Services We Provide

Cremation with Service

When families want time together before cremation, we help plan a service that suits their wishes, coordinating the details while guiding them through each practical step.

Cremation without Service

For those who prefer a simpler approach, we take care of cremation arrangements, paperwork and transfers, leaving space for families to reflect or commemorate privately.

Burials

Choosing a burial involves many practical decisions, and we work alongside families to organise cemetery requirements, service details and documentation in a clear and manageable way.

Live Streaming

Not everyone can attend in person, so we set up live streaming that allows people to watch and take part from elsewhere when distance or circumstances make travel difficult.

Funeral Packages

Some families find it helpful to start with a structured option, so we offer funeral packages that outline inclusions clearly while still allowing flexibility where needed.

We believe that our role as your chosen funeral director is to facilitate the funeral in a way that meets the needs and desires of the bereaved and their loved ones. And we will do our utmost to achieve this.

The funeral experience is a key part of the grieving process, offering the chance to say goodbye and helping on the road to recovery from a loss.

During this time, it’s comforting to know that Finlayson & McKenzie Funeral Directors are here to help plan the most suitable ceremony to meet your individual needs, as well as the needs of your family and friends, and those of the community.

The most common type of funeral service is a church/chapel funeral service, followed by a cemetery/crematorium service.

This style of funeral begins with a service at a church, chapel, funeral home, or in a park, or any other place that holds special significance for the deceased. Followed by a procession to the cemetery or crematorium.

Other options include a small chapel service at Finlayson & McKenzie, followed by a burial at a chosen cemetery or a private cremation with our in-house cremator.

  • Graveside service
  • Direct cremation and a memorial service to follow at a later date
  • Direct cremation – no service – no attendance
  • All the listed options may be public or private services

As a guide, the cost of a funeral falls under 3 main categories:

  • Professional service fees which incorporate all the tasks and services involved in arranging, planning and conducting a funeral including legal requirements.
  • Disbursements, which are the costs a funeral director pays on your behalf for services offered by a third party, such as flowers, cremation/cemetery fees, newspaper notices, etc.

Cremation or Burial?

The number of people in Australia choosing to be cremated is steadily increasing.

People have a choice of either burial or cremation. In certain cultures, cremation is not favoured or may be prohibited within the relevant faith belief. In other cultures, the opposite may occur, with cremation being the custom, for example, in the Hindu tradition.

Future trends may see an increase in cremation due to land shortages for cemeteries near population centres.

We have our own in-house cremator, which enables us to keep the costs of cremation lower than those of many other funeral directors in Central Queensland.
